"Being a small business here in Hampton dependant on supplies coming in from the 4 corners of the world we have found it prudent (and admittedly sometimes lucrative) to have dealings with these 'businessmen' of the seas. But before I can give unequivocal recommendations to the practice I’d like to quote my old Pappy who more than once had warned me… 'Never trust a pyrate or a lady named Mabel'. Now I’ve not yet met Mabel but as for pirates, I’d share a cup of ale with one any day."
-Andy Rathmann, Brewmaster
"Blackbeard’s Crew provides endless entertainment during our annual Pirate Festival on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Sailing Master Billy Flynt leads children of all ages through Scalawag Schools and Chantey Master Willoughby Caught supplies a variety of songs for the crowds involved. These pirates help authenticate our festival every year, regardless of weather and timing. Quartermaster John Glass offers unbeatable and captivating stories. Black Ross, Lady Olive, and Pirate Pete share their pirate knowledge to our event while Cookie recommends pirate recipes and cooks for the crew. Overall, Blackbeard’s Crew is a group that you should not only hire for pirate festivities, but should take the time to get to know. They are all terrific and tons of fun!" -Cydney Palmer, Kitty Hawk Kites
"The Museum of the Albemarle is excited to have established a working relationship with Blackbeard’s Crew. Out of two events that members of Blackbeard’s Crew have attended they have been the main attraction. Our visitors inquire as to their next visit. As a history museum we appreciate their thorough and accurate presentation. We can’t wait until their next visit."
2007 & 2008
"We have an annual “pirate” party at the Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorder’s Center for patients and their families. The pirate crew has volunteered their time for the last two years, and put smiles on the faces of our children and their families. They sing, dance, take pictures and just have fun with the kids. These children go through so much in their little lives and we are so thankful for the crew who make them laugh and smile and just be normal kids! Thank you for all you do, you are greatly appreciated! We hope to see you again next year!" -
"They sang, they decorated, they mingled – they were great! The pirates were a lively addition to the evening. Not only did they entertain, they pulled up with a van full of props that really added to the visual presentation of the event. I give them a hearty endorsement. " -Cindy Mackey, Event Chair, 2008 Addy Awards
